Ok this might sound odd i was gwtting ready to go take a shower and walked by my maturing 90G and noticed something swimming in the moonlight. so i stopped and looked. To me and with no better way to discribe it it looked like a 1/4 inch sperm swimming in the current. I was like hey thats neat then i noticed about 10 more any idea what these are i would try to get a pic but they dont seem to show up in the pics

If they swam like they were on speed, they were epitokes.

When polychaetes want to reproduce, the back portion of their body starts changing. It becomes filled with both sperm and eggs. Eventually the back portion of the body falls off all of the different worms, the worms swim to the surface of the tank and then explode sending gametes everywhere.

The worms usually do this in a synchronized fashion as you have noted.
