I recently bought a 72" 1034w oddysea light for use over my 210. One of the glass panels covering the mh 250w shattered when I was not at home and the light was on. The fans had been working periodicly, going on and off every 5 minutes or so. But with the glass panel out the fans are not coming on.

Does any body know how the fans are regulated on this light? Where can I get a new glass panel?

I do not know this for sure but it sounds to me like the fans are thermostatically controlled and with out that panel its not getting warm enough to turn them on.

Just out of curiosity how did that panel shatter? it really shouldn't have shattered that much I know. I have one of their light with those same panels and that stuff is pretty hard. I wonder if it got to how or had water splashed on it when it was hot.

In any case I would get a replacement for it ASAP and I would be willing to bet once you have it the fans will come back on.

the light hangs from the ceiling about 16" above the water surface, so I do not think water could hit it. I had a 75g with a similar setup and never had a problem.

I would rather the fan be on all the time when the mhs are on.

any body know how to do that?

I would go pick up a piece of plexi and just use that as a replacement, and it will not shatter and could maybe fix your fan problem's as well

If the bulbs are double ended then they need glass shields to protect from UV rays from the lights. Get the replacements ASAP
