Hey everyone, I need some help and assistance on my quad odyssea t5 light fixture. I am noticing that one of ballast is making this static noise, which is causing 2 of the bulbs to flicker. I want to try and replace the bulb but the ballast looks like it can't be taken out. It's an external ballast, one cord leading to the power outlet and another to the fixture. I don't know how to take the ballast out. If there is anyone out there who has owned a odyssea light fixture and knows what im talking about I'd love the help.

I've had a couple odyssey fixtures in my experience. From what I remember the external ballast should have the cord that screws into itself to connect the ballast to the light.
On the light side of the ballast does the cord have the ability to unscrew?

I'm not sure about the light side but I was able to unscrew the external ballast from the light. Does anyone know what kind of ballast I could use to replace the odyssea one?

I know aquatraders sells odyssea replacement parts. You can call or email them. I would establish contact with them before just adding things to the cart though as they dont have the best rep or BBB rating. Not sure if there is any on ebay or not. try topdog sellers on ebay though, he sells odyssea and can probably gets parts. I would try him first.

I would only use an odyssey ballast.
I think this is the one you are looking for.

On my quad I had a ballast go out on me. The ballast is almost half the price of the light. A month after the first ballast went out the second ballast went out. So I just saved up and bought an aquatic life fixture. It took time but it was piece of mind.
    Good luck.

ReefnJeff had ballast problems too (I think it's an Odyysey fixture?). He ended up going through like 3 or 4 ballasts!
