I have been using an Odyssea 4 bulb T-5 fixture for over a year. I switched the bulbs out for ATI bulbs and rearranged the bulb coloration pattern. Mine was set up as Actinic, Actinic, Day, Day.
I rearranged mine to Actinic, Day, Actinic, Day and switched my bulbs out. I use ReefGeek > Aquarium Supplies for Marine, Reef, and Saltwater Aquariums for bulbs.
All in all my fixture has been dependable and worked for me. IMO switching the bulbs out for good ones is a must for good coral growth and color. Although i did grow softies for a few months with the original bulbs.
    I hope this helps.

i've just started my tank 2 weeks ago, i really like it and it's much of desk-view tank because i won't have any fish and probably just fill it with corals.

i also don't want to get hooked into this hobby so much, i'm already hooked up with another hobby (reptile keeping) so i don't plan on having a big tank maybe 30 gallons max, let's just hope i don't.

currently i have one coralife mini 50/50 compact light that really sucks and my tank is so not pleasing to look at with them, heres a big reason why i'm struggling with lights but i have minimized my options to just the odyssea, otherwise i was planning on leds but a small change in plans wont hurt.

Thanks! i would definitely upgrade the bulbs later on when i move to SPS, as everyone i will start with few easy easy softies and LPS while i upgrade.
EDIT: how many wpgs in your 55 gallon mixed reef? and is it only t5s you have for lighting?
