Not to highjack your thread, got a fresh box of fiddlers in the mail for my peacock. Her favorite food by far. Just a testiment to a mantis eye sight but I held one (outside the glass) in front of her lair. Instantly she was up, out and ready for the slaughter. Dropped the crab in the tank and it hadnt even hit the bottom when Hollywood came flying, the first blow was forceful enough to move the body faster than the fiddler claw and it broke off, the second was a glancing blow and sheared all the legs off the crabs right side. The 3rd blow it was over. Funny thing was while holding the crab torso she walked around picking up all the loose legs off the sand & took the whole meal back into her hole. Was holding the baby at the time so wasnt able to get a video. :(

True downside is out of the 20 box of fiddlers I ordered I only had about 50% alive on arrival. No email back from the supplier but crossing fingers.

You may have mentioned it, but what are you currently offering for food? As you can tell I personally am a big supporter of live foods. Not for the evil carnage portion, thats just a bonus, but for the fact that these animals are wild captured and sold and there is that natural part of thier lives where thier comfort zone is.

Very cool about the fiddler. I haven't really done live food yet. I want to, but not sure what.

Although, he does eat all of the live snails that are in the tank. He also eats the small hermits I put in there.

Short of that, I may try some ghost shrimp or something. I want to try more live stuff, but don't want to risk anything too big.

You can use a dremel tool to cut the slits in your overflow box deeper or wider to flow more water into it so your water level in the tank will drop. Or try to add a small ball valve to your return pump to slow it down a little
