    Hot

Also put in a air stone or 2 that may help.

you don't want to put ice cubes into your tank, you can however fill a 20oz soda bottle with water, cap it, freeze it then with the cap on drop it into your tank let it float around until it's melted. rinse it off in your sink and refreeze it again. have 2 or 3 of these in your freezer. also. Might want to do a reverse lighting cycle, having the lights that normally come on during the day come on at night and the night ones on during the day...... that would help keep the heat down

I just got a chiller, They are hard to find used, especially a good one. I started looking on CL 3 mo ago, and finally the right one came along. Had to drive 100 miles round trip, but WOW was it worth it!!!! now tank stays at 78 all the time with a 1 degree swing. It is totally worth it to have piece of mind. So if you are thinking about it, start looking and saving your money, cause its only going to get hotter!!!

I wouldn’t worry too much about your tank being at 82, everything will be fine. Living in Phoenix we deal with heat all the time. We were above 100 degree's last week. Because we have triple digit temperatures here in Phoenix for 6 months of the year it is very costly to keep a house and tank cool.

I keep the house at 80 degrees and the tank follows suit with the house temperature. I also keep a computer case fan constantly running blowing down on the water, this will keep the tank a few degrees lower (has same effect as a swamp cooler, but your water evap will increase significantly).

Anyways I wouldn’t worry just don’t change the temp too fast, that will give you some problems.

I copied Linda's advice when I suggested my first post to you. I've done it and it worked wonders. With a small tank like you and me have, fan work wonders :)

Wow yeah im the east coast and having the same issues. I have my tank in the top room, a stupid idea because it gets to be the hottest room in the house. Guess I got to caught up in the moment and didn't think it through all the way. The tank rose to 82 today also, got me real worried. and usually my room will get alot hotter than that. So tomorrow will be a big day. Being as that I already have the 56g deep. I don't like the tank. to much water for lights to penetrate through for corals, and not enough room for tang to swim. So early morning tomorrow i'll be buying a new tank. 55g long instead of deep, and putting in a sump with it instead of my cannister. it will go into the basement were it always stays very cool, so i wont have as much evaporation issues and it wont overheat. and the fish will have more room to swim lol. a big day it will be, im not to exited.

Thanks Everyone. I did not cycle my lights this morning cause its supposed to hit 93 degrees. I think I am going to have to pull the trigger on a chiller. I have a fan running but tank hit 83 last night before the ice trick. I am pulling a long day at work today which doesn't help.

I saw my tank hit 82...i adjusted my heater for compensation. My tank is also in my basement, so i'm lucky that the temp doesn't go above 75 or so...its just a matter of adjusting!!
