When they reported that hydrates were an issue and they planned on piping hot water down to the unit my first thought was "fail". This really sucks. I hope they get it figuired out soon.

    Wow what a bunch of**********.

    questions:
How accurate is the allmighty CNN and all your other media sources?
How many of you live anywhere near louisiana?
How many of you HAVE BEEN TO THE GULF AND SEEN THIS FIRST HAND????

EVERY single one of you has jumped to conclusions and believed the allmighty and all-knowing media.

I live exactly 62 miles north of Venice, in plaquemines parish, and have been to venice several times since the incident occured, and was actually in the ER at West Jeff hospital with the 3 guys from the horizon that were transported there.

I cant believe how many of you believe everything you see. It IS NOT that bad!!!!!!

Just a tid bit of FYI here...if all the **************** wouldnt have wanted the fire to be put out, the oil slick would be 20% the size it is now. 80% of the oil was burning off. Now you have a "huge" oil problem. And as for the fishing industry, you really think all the seafood you eat comes from the gulf? my girlfriends stepdad hasnt stopped fishing for oytsers yet!!!

Wow, you really don't understand the environmental impact of 4+ inches of oil on the surface of the water about 15 miles out from the beach? Do you know about phytoplankton and photosynthesis? Beyond that, how about the birds covered in oil? The long term impact of much-larger-than-you-saw oil getting to the shore, if they don't use the booms to mop it up?

I have some questions for you, as well:
How many books, articles or papers have you had published on the environmental impact of crude oil leaks?
Do you have any experience with oil, seabed drilling or transport?
Do you have any published research about the environment?
Do you have a degree in meteorology or any climate-related science?
    Do you have a degree?
Have you ever taken an environmental sciences course in college or high school?
Do you know the environmental impact of a thin sheet of oil a millimeter thick because of diligent research or because another news network/certain radio host happened to tell you it was "no big deal" and that it would "go away on its own"?

I'm just trying to establish some credentials, as every single person on CNN either is a reporter of theirs, has a degree in a related field, or is employed in a related field, and many have a combination of these factors working for their credibility. The only people dodging saying "this is many levels of horrible, with more horrible on deck" are people who work for BP.

I mean, the damage from Exxon-Valdez still isn't fixed. If a smaller disaster happened then, and the impact is still easily visible 20 years later, and there's still oil all over the place, why would you try to even insinuate that this disaster "isn't that bad" when you have no experience or education in the field?
