Actually Prince William Sound is pretty much back to the way it was before the spill. We talk about long term effects, but our vantage point is quite short geologically. There will no doubt be damages both ecologically and economically, but long term things will clean up. A broad base approach involving careful drilling, nuclear and the phase in of Proven alternative energy is our best bet to providing the energy we all depend on. The Cubans and their friends are drilling in the Gulf and will continue to do so even if we stop. Is it cleaner not to drill and buy oil that the Cubans drilled for?Don't think so. We need to do more than give lip service to nuclear power. France has 2-3x the percentage of energy from nuclear power that we do and has been doing that for 25 years. Its safe and cheap.

it aint that bad.. stuff will recover pretty quick. And yes, I am in the biz (I wont go into greater detail than that). What I hate to see is the knee jerk reaction by everyone talkin bout no more drilling, shut down all offshore production, etc.. dont people know that oil is the lifeblood of our economy in America? Food distribution depends on it amongst all other facets of modern life. Too bad all the potential shallow wells of California that are under way less pressure than the deep water stuff will never get developed. One thing to remember is to have economic expansion you must have energy expansion as well. The two go hand in hand. No way around that. Besides people should be thankful for the habitat that platforms and wells have provided for snapper, grouper, amberjack, and all the others. Without structure, red snapper would not be as abundant as they are now. Of course NMFS doesnt count fish on artificial reefs, or artificial structures in their biostock assessments. lunacy.

check out the bio-luminescence.. the only thing I can think of is a MAJOR noctiluca bloom.. since all around the oil it looks all red/orange.. Ive seen a bloom once.
