Hey guys, we came across this last summer when doing some work for my dad. Absolutely the freakiest animal ive seen in freshwater. I told everyone is was sometype of freswater eel but what do you guys think? It ws a pretty good find huh... He was two feet thick in mud from under a pond. Bout 18"s long. we caught pics, looked at, and released in a close creek.;) So what you guys think?

P.S. The lil guy looked like he had almost like salamaders feet. Little little feet and arms.

To me(well the amphibian gal here at work) says its definetly an amphibian of some sort.
She also recommends checking with the local DNR site, they tend to have IDs

I vote Lamprey. Used to see lampreys and lamprey marks on fish when I was little on these giant fish my uncle used to catch in the Great Lakes. They are nasty things, they latch on to the fish and kinda pierce it with their tongue and then suck on their blood. They are like an epidemic up there.
