I have a hob protein skimmer. My question is this, Can I add one more chamber to the sump like follows::water flow going from top to bottom:
Water from tank to chamber with LR rubble / LS.
Water to pump and tube out to hob skimmer.
Skimmer outlet to next chamber with bubble trap.
Final chamber with pump return to tank.

Is that correct? or do i have something wrong? Sorry I really want to have a sump / fuge but have almost no knowledge of how to set it up. Thanks in advance!

That would be fine. Just like my setup, but my skimmer is in the middle chamber. I have detailed building pics on my Show off your tank area. Here my new one with it being tested today..

Also, if your tank is glass used GLASS!!! I used 1/4" plate glass with the top edges beveled, I did it that way for safety & as you can see the waterfall is smooth. I also had the bottom corners rounded to about a dime on the sides of each divider, so that it will not cut into the seal at the bottom of the tank. The all little things people don't mention.

Don't do what I did and tried using Youtube videos that tell you to use acrylic. Aquarium silicone will NOT still to acrylic. I learned the costly way. Good Luck! If you are drilling into glass make sure it is not tempered, it will crack.

3 chambers... Going from left to right.

Drain/Fuge, skimmer, bubble trap, & then return.

Heights are 13 to 7 to 6. 13 because I wanted it that height, 7 that was the skimmer requirements, & 6 again pump requirements..

Wait til you see the drain config..

yes, as long as it's always submerged.

no. you can put your carbon bag under your skimmer water outlet or in anyplace water will flow through it.

Carbon is a good thing. You can put it in bags in the sump, or you can run carbon and GFO (phosphate remover) in a reactor, which is the ideal way as it forces water through.
