    ok I have this shell type thing on my LR it came from nowhere....Also ill post some other pics of what i believe is a clam or something.....Any info will be good and if it ok for my tank(10gal nano).....

    It's definitely a bi-valve.* Whether it's a clam, oyster, mussel, etc, I can't tell

    Keep them. They are good filter feeders and require no work on your end.

    oh....cool!! Will they get real big? also there is one in a cave(the pic wont upload) about the size of a nickel....he is always open and is there anything I can add that they will like or that benifets them in anyway...

    they feed from the water column I woudnt add anything but ya can if you want....

    IME more often than not, they're dead and empty when attached to LR. Can you see inside the shell to determine if it's occupied? The few that I've had were the same color as the LR, and when I looked closely, could see that it was "glued" to the LR naturally, over time, as these things do. It might just be part of the rock by now.

    I can't tell from your picture what your case is, so your mileage may vary.

    If it is alive, as others have said, they're harmless. In response to your question, "will they get real big?" They grow slowly--so slowly you'll never notice it ever got any bigger unless you photograph it every few months and compare the photos.

    Yep, it's an Ark Clam, although I can't tell you which species. The other guys pretty much gave you the pertinent info on it already.

    my tank has become littered with them. unfortunately none are alive. i wish there was some life in them tho.
