so with the Aqua C Remora does that black box type thing cover hide everything you would normally see with most skimmers? Also how do you change and clean this skimmer?
the skimmer at least seems large online, but i've never seen it in person. And does that tube thing take up a lot of space in the tank?

By the way, you really want to use a sump and avoid HOB stuff. Sumps will add water volume and allow you to put all equpment in there vs. taking up space and cluttering the display. You can use a 20 long or equivalent.

I recently saw a Bullet 2 on the local scene for $150 ... Keep your eyes peeled on Craigslist or the local club for deals.

i would like to use a sump, but my tank can't be drilled, and if you look at the stand in the pic through my link, i wouldn't be able to fit any sized tank in there, so i'm stuck with a hob

Personally I have seen the cpr skimmer run and it works fine. With that being said, there are better skimmers on the market and they are just a little more expensive. I also like the remora so either way, I think you would be ok.

yea, i might end up going with the remora, although it does look big, but hopefully my tank will be able to hide most of it.

your tank doesn't have to be drilled, you could buy an overflow to drain water. Also, you said you would like to have one good expensive piece of equipment. In my opinion you should get a good light rather than a protein skimmer, unless you already have a good one.
