Before I say anything here is the aspect of my tank. My tank has been stable for months, I am running a 225 and 65 gallon super skimmer on my 120 gallon tank with 40 gallon sump. I am also running 2 250 watt 14k pheonix mh with a blue hippo tank, 2 anthias, 3 chromis, 2 blood shrimp, 1 pajama cardinal, 2 occ clowns, and 1 foxface rabbitfish as poop producers in the tank. I have a really nice refugium built into the sump with lots and lots of caulerpa algae. every aspect of my tank is stable and has been for a long time.

Ok I just purchased a Blue Carpet Anemone for $115. It is around 8-12'' and is arriving very soon. I was told by various pet stores before ordering that they are fairly easy to keep if you have good lighting. my tank is a 120g 4foot long 2 foot high 2foot wide. Do I have enough wattage for my tank to sustain him? Also were the pet stores right on difficult until established to the tank? I have also heard online they are one of the hardest anemones to keep alive in the tank is this true? I also have heard that they frequently eat fish in the tank, and kill quite a bit of everything. I also have heard different things about what they like to set there foot in, some things say rock or rubble and some say 3'' sand bed which I have. I have a corner of the tank specifically set for him with corals and rockwork away from it. I also heard they like a decent amount of flow towards them.

I do plan on feeding him 2X a week with various foods like mussels, silversides, and sprinkling mysis over him and I got a good food mixture from an online source who has had tremendous luck with one.

    To put it simply

    1. Do I have enough Lighting?

    2. Do I need good flow on him?

    3. Feeding 2X a week good?

    4. do they live a very short amount of time in the home aquarium?

    5. Are they really hard to take care of?

    6. Do they like rockwork or sand?

    7. Will it eat fish like a monster?

    8. Will an Occ Clown host it or should I risk putting a diff clown in the tank for it?

Most clowns will reside in them after given a chance to become accustomed to the sting and develop the coating that allows them to reside in the anemone. With that said one can never predict where a clown will reside.

I included a picture of my green carpet so you can see placement.
The blue carpet anemones are really pretty and with the right research and procautions they can be a beautiful addition to a reef tank.

I have kind of calculated my losses in the tank, and I am probably going to lose my mandarin goby, my 2 blood shrimp for sure they use to climb into my LTA that I use to have (sold it to pet store in preparation for the BCA.) to get food that fell into it. other than that most of the fish stay away from that corner except for my clowns.

I would not count out the mandarin or shrimp by any means, just yet. Your tank is large and that works very well in your favor.

light is probably 2.5 ft from sandbed. i only run a return pump, for some reason all my corals like it this way and have had no problem with sps etc. I plan on buying a Hydor Koralia 425gph just to aim at the anemone on the opposite side of the tank, I head they like a decent amount of flow. Also what is the anemones main host?

This list is just a general guide line, but it gives some insight. Some clowns are so persistent that they break the rules of regular clownfish and host guidelines.

Why don't you take them to the LFS for credit, or sell them? If you think they will get killed....seems nicer...

Good luck with the nem! We will need pics, of course!

Yea i might take the mandarin if I can catch him. There are so many places to hide in my tank, i would literall have to tear down the tank to catch the shrimp or him.
