    Definitely halimeda.

It does consume a bit of calcium though. It does not take well to pruning, and pretty much no fish, crab or any other reef critter we would have in our tanks will eat it.

Ha ha... I went snorkeling last weekend and collected a few different varieties of greenery.
Drilled small rocks and zip tied this stuff to them placed it in the sand. Looked awesome for sure.... An hour later every Emerald was out feasting and pulling away at it. The next morning it was all but gone, only bare rocks and zip ties lmao..... I know one variety for sure it was halimeda and the other who knows but looked really cool. My sailfin even chomped on them as well.

I think you can let this grow out a bit more before worrying. Please post an updated pic when you think growth has warranted it.

halimeda has to be cut at the little joints for it to be fine with pruning. I've got a buddy that uses this in his fuge and coincidentally was showing me his little farm a few days ago during lunch. I myself, have never pruned one though.

Yeah i guess.... lol good for the tang but them darn crabs are supposed to be eatin my algae. I also caught a horse face blenny (has a red mohawk!!! =P) and another bright green blenny yet identified.... cant get a good pic of him cause he is kinda small and my camera sucks. One week later they are doing great (fat asses) lol eating away and taunting the hell out of my lawnmower... This is way better than T.V.

I had a whole bunch of that growing on my rocks, but my fish decided to break them all off this last week when I was away. I only have about 4 stalks left on my rock, the rest were laying on the sand being eaten by my blue legs.

I would not use halimeda for a fuge, chaeto is much better for that.

Halimeda consumes quite a bit of calcium, something I would rather the corals use.

It is also rather unpalatable for most critters to eat it. I know none of my tangs would ever touch it, and neither would any crabs, emerald or hermits, not any other algae eating fish I have kept would touch it.
