RO is going to alleviate a lot of headaches with algae blooms you will get from using tap water from a municipal source.

I wouldn't, a lot of the nasty in the city water will prob soak up into your rocks and sand and take months to leech out, causing ongoing algae issues. There was a thread about this yesterday, where the guy, after 2 months of using rodi, was still having issues. BTW, check into rodi water, no just ro.

Im doing a swap from a thirty gallon to a sixty gallon, so with the rock and the gravel i would only use about twenty gallons of tap water do you think that woul be ok ????

Its your tank, its not gonna kill it, but why? Go get some distilled from Sams or something. The small amount that would cost will be worth it. IMO. Doesn't seem like a good place to start pinching pennies.

+1 dechlorinator only removes chlorine and chloramine. Youll still have minerals and nutrients. Not to mention copper with can kill coral and inverts.
