    I left the house for five days (had a friend feed) and when I got back, I had a lot of this white sponge thing everywhere!

    what is it?
    is it bad?

    Its tunicates or sponge either way they are both harmless filter feeders.

    I have quite a bit of this in my tank, I have just left it and some of it has started to go a burgundy colour.

    It looks like a leucosolenia species which is a sponge, I had this in my tank for about 9 months and then it disappeared along with my bubble algae.
