    HI,
I keep hearing a loud poping sound from the sump, its pretty yuckiy down there and can't really see thru the glass,
I have a reforguim and light and the coraline is sort of coating everything in there.
I guess it was a tiny little one in the cheto or live sand I added.
Haven't seen it yet but its alot louder than my little one in the main tank.

It could be: something caught in the impeller, rock or sand or something. exp. if its sudden If you added LS some of it could be caught.

More than likely, it's a hitchhiker pistol shrimp or stomatopod (mantis shrimp).

Possibly. Or they might have died of old age. Many species of animals have very short life-cycles. Or maybe with a waterchange, the SG of the new water didn't match. Or....... (you can see where I'm going with this).

If you are hearing a regular pop in irregular intervals, there's a good chance you likely have a hitchhiker. However, Tanner might be correct too. If I heard it in person, I could tell you as I've kept many mantis and many pistol's. However, I cannot hear it in person so I'm just guessing.
