    I was wandering has anyone tried to take natural sea sponges and soaking them in portland then wringing them out about 80%. After they cure they should be strong enough to support the aqua scape.

    Worth a shot. All you can do is try it. My only concern is will the cement completely shield the sponge or will sea water still reach it, and will the sponge rot in sea water?

    I think once the the sponge is fully saturated it will be completely encased.
