Imagine, new folks asking questions, on a forum, of all places:) If it were all the same members, the site would never grow.

some people get on there high hoarse and forget what these forums are about. They are here to help people weather it be about white bugs to filters, yes she could have done a search but maybe she wanted peoples opinions. when people come to these forums everybody says ask any questions, then when somebody does people jump on them and tell them to look elsewhere or make them feel stupid. I have noticed this trend lately on these forums. IMO this is what separates 3reef from other forums is people here usually don't do this.
Well sorry Onjinsan didn't mean to hijack your thread!

I wasn't trying to make anyone feel stupid, I was just trying to help with my google search "long search string" suggestion.

Me too. I don't feel like I jumped up on a high horse, it seems that many of you have about my post. So when is it bad for me to post a link that has many threads about the answer to a question? Did you even look at the link I posted on my reply? The same question has been asked many times, yes, but look at all the extra material on the topic that I brought to your attention. Everyone needs to calm down it seems, heck I have defended against the "old timers" getting cranky if someone asks a simple question that has been asked before.
So, the question I ask is, who is on a high horse here?

How was my response any different than Bogie's?? Rethink your negativity and think twice before giving someone bad juju, seems kinda silly. I just pointed out a great feature of this site and thought I was helping you out tremendously by giving you a link with all sorts of answers to this exact same question. Onjinsan and others, you need to remember that when reading what others have to say you can't "read" into the way they are saying something and everything isn't always what is seems. There was no ill intentions in my response.

I think that this pattern of new people asking the "same old questions" will continue as long as this hobby exists.
Asking questions here is an interactive experience and since everyone's experience in this hobby can be very different, people new to the hobby are more likely to find someone at 3reef who has been through similar experiences and will understand the issues better than just searching through google.
Since these questions will continue, its better to answer them than redirecting them.

Just my opinion ofcource, i could be wrong. :loco:

Simply put Bogie's was a simple link, you first words were how allot of questions can be answered by doing some research and by clicking on the search button instead of answering their question, to which they (and no reading needed it was plain as day) appeared to take exception to and to be honest with you I did also.

The whole Idea of this forum its to have conversations about reefing and I feel that telling someone that they should have searched first to get their answer is wrong. I personally have had several people contact me and remark about the fact that some do this allot on 3reef.

Its kinda like the "Tang Police" on RC and the way they answer a question about anything "is that a yellow tang, you need to get rid of it because it does not belong in a 55" and say nothing about the original question, which is one of the many reasons I stopped using that site.

Sorry bmshehan, I really meant no harm nor did I mean to create such a stir. nor did I feel that there were any "Ill intentions in your response" All I wanted to do was make sure that they didn't stop asking questions because there are allot that have no problem answering the same old questions.
