While I was in Oklahoma visiting my family, we decided to take the drive to Tulsa, OK to visit the Oklahoma Aquarium.

I have only visited two aquariums thus far, so I don't really have much for comparison and the only other I have visited is the Greater Cleveland Aquarium in Cleveland, OH.

I was way more impressed with the Oklahoma Aquarium. They had very nice displays of SW and FW. There are a few "touch tanks" which all the children visiting really seemed to enjoy, unfortunately my son is only 1 and didn't really know what was going on other than his hand got wet.

There were very many exhibits which had coral and some of the beautiful fish we all know and love. They had several mixed reefs I could have spent hours gazing at and a huge display with a lot of 18 inch angels and triggers and many other large aggressive fish.

Of course there was a huge Shark Adventure which advertised the largest Bull Sharks in captivity with its walk through tunnel.

The Extreme Amazon exhibit had some very large Pacu fish which a fellow (adult) patron said were Piranha whose teeth had been removed. SMH. He had already passed the Piranha exhibit whose teeth had not been removed.

So I highly recommend if you are visiting or passing through Tulsa, OK and have a couple hours to spare, to stop for a visit.

We went down there a few years ago and it is a pretty cool place. I would recommend it also.

md, you may have seen me post this before but you should check out the newport aquarium across the river from cincy. It is a great aquarium and I guess I really didn't realize how nice it was until I visited the Shedd (sp) aquarium in Chicago and was disappointed because my most recent aquarium visit had been in newport. I know cincy is a good road trip for you but thought I'd suggest - also for anyone else on here that may want to visit a nice aquarium.

thanks for the recommendation! I think all of us want to know where there are good aquariums to visit.

I didn't see your post about this aquarium and could not find it with a search just now. If you can find it and either post a link here or send me a PM that would be great. I love going to check out aquariums.

Yes Newport Aquarium is a great visit been twice, Tennessee Aquarium in Chattanooga is cool, Shedd Aquarium is good, but my favorite so far is the Georgia Aquarium. Wife was just asking about our next aquarium trip, might check out Oklahoma.
