Old House, Room Not Grounded!

I think so, I'll ask him about it. If I can turn it off, what then?

 

Check labeling first if you are lucky and electrician did even a half assed job he will label what is breakered where ( I say breakers but could be fuses. I will use "breakers" for both.) If not labeled plug a radio into the 3 prong outlet and remove power at the breaker ( shut off) once you hear the radio shut off you know what breaker that is. Now plug it into the two prong outlet and shut off the breaker that controlled the 3 prong ( fingers crossed) if it is the same breaker, all you need to do is identify how the 3 prong is grounded. if not the same breaker as that 3 prong or any other in your place a ground will be needed to be pulled to that outlet. You can pull it from the breaker box,drive an 8 foot grounding rod 4 feet into the ground outside the room or find a cold water pipe nearby.
