had it for 2 weeks, woke up this morning and saw this. have been feeding it meat every 2 days and it's accepted it always.

    my inhabitants,
    1. maroon clownfish
    2.bicolor blenny
    3.azure damsel
    4.humbug damsel
    5.skunk shirmp, fire shrimp
    6.tiny blue hermit crab

it's placed on the bottom as you can see. i have a few bad crabs in my tank too. could they have done it?! i have since used a open cyclinder to surround it for some protection. it's still accepting food though, can the skeleton injury EVER heal? :-/

coral is amazing and from what i seen will heal itself, person with more experience will chime in but from me and my experience in my tank, I got some bad crabs in my tank and have to put them in check every once in awhile. For some reason they love my fuzzy carpet mushrooms, go figure but it should heal up.

Plate corals are very sensitive, did anything fall on it? I dont see anything on your list that could do that. If that "die-off" starts to get bigger, looks like you will lose it. Sorry.

i've never seen anyhting fall on it, because i didn't remove anything from it
should i start feeding it everyday from now so it'll recover? the tentacles near it can still poof up though, after i feed. is it possible for flesh to cover the skeleton again?

that looks like the dreaded brown jelly. I have seen this take corals for no reason what so ever. It just happens somehow. I wish I had a cure for you cuz if I did, I would be very wealthy. Personally I don't think your plate is going to make it.

brown jelly?! well there's some sticky sticky stuff sticking to the dead part of the skeleton, but i don't really see any brown jelly symptoms, how do i determine it is it, and when should i remove it to prevent spread?

I would do an iodine dip on the coral. Brown jelly is a protozoan infection. Yes it is contagious to unhealthy corals but I personally have never seen it spread. A dip should kill the infection and make it less contagious.
