I was looking at a court jester and it said it was o kay for nanos, but use caution in a reef.

Why and how do I use caution?

My tank is a 12 gal, 6 years old, no fish, toad stool, GSP, mushroom, cleaner shrimp, sally light foot, and adding more coral (softies and LPS)

I would be wary of putting one in a nano. They're hard to get eating prepared foods. Their only food source is normally pods. I had one for about 6 months in my tank (died during the ich outbreak), and it never ate anything prepared.

6 years old with no fish ever?

"with caution" if you referring to liveaquaria this may be a mistake. Some times they mis label rerquirments on fish.

you can feed them brine but brine has no nutritional value.

Dr. Fosters says, "It should be kept in a 10 gallon or larger aquarium that is well-established and has live rock and sand on which the fish can graze. It is best to keep only one of this species in an aquarium, unless the tank is large with an abundance of hiding places. It is rarely aggressive towards other species."

    Looks safe to me.

    gotcha.

but as I was saying, ive had instances where liveaquaria mislabels fish but usually with catuion means there mostly reef safe but the may have an exception or personality issue. for instance dward angels are with caution because there peacful but depending on personality may nip on corals. or like a fish that is peacful to most inhabitants but may eat small snails. So they say with caution to make sure you either dont put the vulnerable potential victims in with that particular fish, or that you watch out for other issues such as a dwarf angel nipping.

but in the case of the goby, I dont see any reason for caution oher than what blackraven mentioned about them needing pods.
