My 12. gal tank just got over an outbreak of GHA. I just replaced the lights, the heater and cleaned the pump and koraline nano thing.

I put all my CUC and coral in my 6 gal while I delt with the GHA in my 12, So I started putting the coral back in my 12 gal. Instead of trying to catch all the crabs and snails in my 6 I just went out last night and bought 3 narcius snails, 1 mexcian snail and 6 blue legged hermits.

I acclimated them for an hour and a half. My crabs did fine, my snails started moving around, but then stopped. this morning I found them just sitting there. It didn't seem right so I acclimated them to my 6 gal. I retested my water and everything was good, but I decided to bring a sample to LFS cause I don't have an amonia or phosphate test.

    PH 8.2
    temp 78
    nitrites 0
    nitrates 0
    amonia 0
    phosphates 0
salinity (taken with a refractometer) 1.25

What could be wrong with my snails?

I forgot to say my tank is 5 years old.

I hope so. It's been so long since I've added anything new I don't remember how long they took to adjust.

It seemed odd that all four snails acted the same way.

similar experiences from me when adding new snails, Sadie

I have had up to half a dozen snails all stay more or less exactly where I placed them in the tank for 24 hours or longer but eventually they do adjust, get confident and start sliding off and around

if you do get worried after 24 hours try picking them up
if they are stuck fast to the surface they are on, they are still alive
if they lift up easily, then thats a problem

    Steve

PS - ignore any advice you get to smell them if you think they are dead

thanks so much, I've worked so hard to get the algae gone, and was so excited to start putting it back together, I guess I'm just a little nervous.

I feel much better. the narcius snails haved moved a bit, but still on top of the sand. The turbo hasn't budged.

I will keep an eye on them, and I won't sniff any of them.;)

I'm going to wait a bit before putting my clown back in, just in case.
