    HELLO ALL!!!

right, so my tank (118g) has been cycling for about 2 months now, i havent been testing and following the cycle because i told myself i will let nature take all its time (will infact let the tank run another month before i add my fish) but my question is this.

I have recently added a couple mushrooms a plusing xenia some star polyps and 2 snails (all hardy stuff that seems to be doing great). now in a months time (after having tested my water) i will be transfering my fish from my 48g to their new 118g home, should this be done step by step or should i move all the fish in one hit? my fear is that the bacteria in my system wont be able to handle the sudden bio load.

    details of my 118g

2 t5 rails with 2 day and 2 night lights
tunze 9011 skimmer (most silent skimmer i have ever seen)
Tunze mechanical filter (infact it is stuck to the skimmer, "reefpack505"
about 80 kilos of live rock
    5cm live sand bed
    NO SUMP

    details of my 48g

    10g refum/sump
    20kilos live rock
    5cm live sand bed

    Fish List
    1 mandarin
    1 diamond goby
    2 percula
    1 orange BTA
    1 peppermint
    1 bloodshrimp
    1 6 liner
    1 bluespot puffer
    2 yellow tale blue damsels

    merci for the answers

it it was a standard upgrade, in which case the rock etc from the 40 would be going into the new 100 plus at the same time as the fish
then in that scenario you already have the biological capacity in the existing tank and it would then continue it's roll in the larger tank (OK there would be some new rock and lots of new water )

if on the other hand only the fish/ livestock etc are coming from the 40 and none of the established rock etc then
Moving them over slowly is the best idea IMHO
allowing the bacteria in the system to increase in order to cope with each new addition

yea thats what i was thinking, some rock came from the 40 but most is staying where it is as i will turn the 48 into a dwarf lionfish tank. thank you for the feedback

    You are welcome

if you treat it like a new set up then, that will be safest for you and the fish
