I was looking the other day, and i noticed that one of the heads of my Branching Frogspawn had broken off and was lying in the substrait. I picked it up and buried the hard part in the sand, and left the head out like the others, its a little closer to the sand bed, but looks pretty good none the less. Anyone know why this might have happened? Its like it fragged itself!

Had to have been hit, twisted, pulled, knocked into or otherwise physically stressed (not physiologically stressed) to break - the calciferous skeleton is pretty brittle when force is applied the right way.

Maybe a rock shift? Do you have turbo snails? They can be bulldozers . . .

Your frag should be happy on the sandbed all other conditions being acceptable.

i do have a few turbo snails, i also have a tuxedo urchin and some picky emerald crabs, but i have not seen them messing with my Frogspawn. I dont mind, if the newly fragged piece keeps growing a skeleton it would be nice to have another frog spawn

It should keep growing - a great part about stony corals is how easy they are to frag!!!! Snap - and you've got a new frag!!!!

Good luck on your "new addition"!!!!

If the Tuxedo is able to reach it then I would say that it was the culprit. I have a Rock or Black urchin and it got between two heads or a Torch that I had and busted it apart, I actually watched it do it.
