2in10 is correct here. Sounds to me also that this is a prelude to mating. I had a GSM pair that the female was pretty ugly to anyone on her end of the 75. and yours look like good sized fish. be glad they got rid of that citron. I had one go coral happy and munched up a bunch of SPS and they are next to impossible to get out of an established tank.

Definatley a good looking pair. I plan to get a male for mine down the road...

beautiful clowns love the all black faces.
i do agree they might be ready to mate. there has to be a reason they are doing this all of a sudden. i recently read that oc clowns dont mature till they are 1 year to 2 years old. and that is when they will sex change into male or male than female. before that they are sexless. maybe you now have a true pair.

Well it has gone from bad to worse.

The female will no longer tolerate me in the tank at all. I moved a zoanthids piece this am, she knocked it down, I put it back up and she has spent the last 30 minutes grabbing it and beating it with her tale.

I have had so many clowns over the years with the Maroons being the worst offenders when it came to aggression. The female B/W has got the them beat by a long shot.

Any attempt to scape, clean is met with constant bitting and removal of any new coral to the sandbed.

    No spawing noticed.

    Something has got to give:confused:

sounds like mating behavior to me also... you might be getting some eggs in a few months.

They usually do become wayyy overly protective of the tank when they want to mate. Also, since you have had them for 2.5 yrs they probably feel right at home in your JBJ :)

Its no longer your aquarium Corailline

    its now their home

had a similar issue with a YTB a year or so ago
I had a dead coral branch that was encrusted with yellow polyps
that seemed to repeatedly fall off the reef
and I put it back, only to have to do it again a day or so later

eventually I witnessed this 1 inch fish moving a piece of rock maybe 5 or 6 times the size of it

Sorry to hear of your troubles. I'd have to agree with those that say it is mating behavior. Once my percs paired up and started laying they went through basically the same change. Not as aggressive as yours but close. They consider the entire right side of my 46 as "theirs" and will not allow the other residents to trespass very long.

Unfortunately I just got rid of the only other tank they could go in. :-X

Just rescaped the entire tank. Hope everything now has a place and that the clowns accept it. Amazing the size of pieces she can move. And a lot of tail power.

It is a hard one. Love the pair but they have put huge restrictions on what I can do with the tank. I feel like I am the one being trained.

I need a thicker pair of gloves and a thicker skin.:-/

If it was a larger tank I would probably be ok with it but as soon as the lid goes up and she sees my hand she literially flies across the tank jumps up to bite me, before my fingers even hit the water.
