I had prepared some potent Bayer dip in DT salt water.
Then I had to go to a meeting at my soms school. for over an hour,
    then came back home.

I thought I would re-do the dip water to get it at DT temperature, and
dip one of my huge Tyree Monti Flower plates ( bare fit in the circumference of a 6g. salt bucket)

Well, I guess I had forgot I had already put the Bayer in the bucket, with about 1.5g DT water.
I thought I would redo the water to make sure it was at temp, as it had set out for almost 2 hrs in a bucket.

Without thinking, I dumped the already bayered bucket back into my sump, and quickly noticed that it was cloudy water. Well, not quick enough!

I had some new Carbon, and put on it on the return to my sump.

I know the crabs die. The snails seem to be making it.

But of all my fish, my Blue spotted watchman Goby was breathing really hard, and now I don't see him, don't see the Yellow Goby either.
Other than killing all my crabs, the other fish seem unaffected.

I guess it could have been worse

Don't quote me on this but i think this depletes the oxygen in the water you may try to increase surface agitation for a bit or add an airline to increase the O2.

    Thanks,
Probably right. However none of the fish are even acting that funny, and I saw the blue spotted watchman hanging out under some rocks- but still moving/breathing.
I had some cool Hermits, some huge ones too.
The really cool on in my frag tank is already dead.

I do have the 'true' coast to coast overflow- 72" long
already have great surface agitation with my powerheads too.
And, I already run a sponge filter/airstone in the sump to keep it seeded it case I need it.
And my big Reef Octopus skimmer is working well also.

I'll do a 20% WC tomorrow or Friday, and get some more Hermits.

    Thanks ya'll,
All fish are alive and well.

I have seen some crabs died, and know I lost more- RIP
    Everything else is well.
I did a 40g WC today, and siphoned out GOBS of detritus from my sump.

sorry to hear about the losses Todd but sounds like most made it through. I'm sure the big WC and getting rid of the detritus will be helpful

Man that sucks todd but like you said, could've been way worse. The water volume you have helped for sure.

Well, if you were ever worried about red bugs, you don't have to any more.

    Glad everything made it
