Not sure if I am just over reacting or I need to do something. I have attached 2 pictures (first one is the day I put in the tank) the second one is today 1 week later.
    I have t5 6,500k daylight (blue side) 1 10k daylight on 9hr a day and 2 atinic lights on 12 hours a day
    Parm:
    sal - 1.024
    temp 78
    nitrate - less then 5
    nitrite - 0
    amonia 0
    dk 8
    PH 8.3 (day time)
    cal - 380
    Mag - 1200
I know my mag is down and cal is down - I am changing to reef salt to raise the cal and mag

This is after 1 week so I am thinking my lights are on too long or too strong - or is it the low cal and mag?

It looks fine. The lighting itself looks different between the pictures though. Are you concerned about the retracting or coloration? Make sure there's only a little flow where it is placed. Not none of course, but not a lot. What type of lighting are you using?

Edit: nvm about lighting. I didn't read your full post.

well, the second pic is the way a coral is supposed to look.. puffy, nice color.. the first pic with the yellow light looks not so good IMO. I choose #2. The bright red in the first pic is just a result of light spectrum. I have an aussie prism brain that is purple/neon green under the daylights and purple/bright gold under actinics.

Thank you too both - I might be seeing things but it seems like there are more white lines. Sorry about the lighting difference I didn't have the right setting set on the camera on the first shot.

I have him in medium flow middel of the tank directly under the blue atinic lights the daylights are slightly behind it- that is what i have read.

Puffy or spread is what it should be. The retraction that it has in the first pic is Most likely due to the fact that it wasn't acclimated yet. IMO the reason you didn't notice the white lines earlier is due to the retraction. Hope this helps.

thanks steve - I think I am just a little gun shy - this guy is my favorite coral - and I had gotten one a month ago that was on deaths door when I bought him.
Just being vigilant - I have started a new reef salt today to add mag and cal so I hope to see an increase in growth over the next month or two
