I bought this green open brain about a month ago. I have noticed that its is loosing it green color..Im running 265watts power compact light but the bulbs about 9 months old. water quality is good.

looks like it is starving and like something is picking at it. There is an awful lot of skeleton exposed

I dont know what you have in the tank fish wise but I think something is eating at it. What were you feeding it?

I am honestly not sure that it can be saved at this point though you can still see its mouths so there might be hope. It looks like the brain was dyed yellow and if it was its survival chance is next to null! Some places dye their corals all these colors and this basically is a death sentence to them...no amount of care can save a large portion of these

When my brain was being picked on by my Bellus, I got a plastic grape container (or other produce container that is clear and has holes in it) and placed it over the coral to keep things off it.

You also need to feed it some mysis about a half hour or so after lights go out. Squirt a little around it, put the container back on it and let the tentacles come out. Then I would remove the container and squirt some more on it. It may take a while to train it to eat

Yeah, I wouldn't hold out much hope for it. Schackmel pretty much covered everything there. Great looking tank though.

Good advice by Mel. I had problems with skeleton being exposed on the brain and finally caught my cleaner shrimp in the act. I took a little plastic bowl (like those cheap storages bowls Glad makes) and drilled a bunch of holes in it. After feeding, we put the bowl over it and hold it down with the Mag-Float. I don't know if you can save it or not, but you might try that.

that is not helping... I run T5s, but I have read power compacts need to be changed every 6 months.

nice looking tank though and good luck with the brain
