I started out with a few xenias...

And in 6 months I had this!

So we tried pulling them off the rock with no luck. Then tried scalpeling them off which upset the whole tank so I had no other choice but to remove the entire rock. This of course ended up in reconstruction of the tank

And there's still more! We'll (I say "we" meaning him because I hate touching those slimy mushy corals, totally gives me the willies) have to have to cut them out I guess, otherwise I'll be in trouble again real soon. Do not buy those things, they are evil evil creatures.

They are currently in the frag tank at my fiance's house with my rude zebra hermit :p I'm curious to see if they'll survive without any acclimation...I have a hunch that they will.

No they aren't. Give them what they need and they'll grow fast. You gave them what they needed.

You can't take away the light because you have other corals. However, you can lower the other fertilizers by watching what you feed, doing waterchanges more often or of a larger amount, running phosphate adsorbants.

LOL I love Xenia. I've got some Silver Branch and am looking for some pink and white Pom's. But yes it can literally take a tank over. I had a pic of the friend of a friends tank who decided cover the back glass of a 60 with xen. then just let it go for a year. So you can imagine..even the clown in the pic looked like it was thinking "wth" lol

I'm only kidding about them being evil, they really are beautiful to watch pulse and sway and I love their pink coloring but they were taking up all the light in the tank and getting too big for us. I think Franklin feels a little lost without them but he has more room to swim and maybe his black spots will go away now.
