I'm tired of adding water every day so I just purchased an ATO from autotopoff.com

I've been using about 2 quarts every day so my salinity should stay much more in check.

I've already got an aqualifter so it was the most simple and cost effective solution

It's nice to have an ATO that is for sure. You did some cool plumbing recently. Everything still dialed in?

Yeah the overflow is much better now that I have the gate valve in place. I still occasionally have to adjust it but nothing that is too big of a deal. Not sure I would do another herbie again on another tank though. More research would be needed before that decision would be made.

My zoa frags are growing crazy fast. the Utter Chaos that I got at the beginning of the month already has 2 baby polyps and the other 2 zoas have almost doubled in polyp count in the same amount of time. I cant say as positive for the goniporia. I didn't expect any more though. It was an impulse buy that the wife and I picked out. Only after did I realize how difficult they are to keep.

The pair of clowns is down to one as you may have seen in another thread. I am almost certain that the large female killed the (suspected) male. I am not sure what to do on that front. I honestly don't really like the remaining one. She hasn't settled into the tank and really hangs out in the top rear corner. I might see if my LFS will trade for store credit. She is healthy and eats great. Also getting bigger since I bought her. Maybe I'll start a second tank for her lol.

I asked today and they won't take her. Not really sure what to do at this point with it.

what about selling on a local forum? or maybe ask another LFS? or perhaps let them have her without credit? a clown can be such an awesome tank member or can totally dominate in a negative way many things such as future additions, no pairing if they are really nasty, etc.....when I first converted my FOWLR to a reef, on the advice here actually, I got rid of my lone maroon clown primarily for future dynamics rather than problems I was having at the time. Best decision I made - I now have a black and white pair that have bonded with my anemone and am hoping they'll eventually breed. They are content together in the portion of my tank where the anemone is and they exist peacefully with other tank members.

Im not sure about anybody else that is around who will want it. There is a program around here that puts aquariums in schools I might try to donate her to. otherwise it will stay in the tank for now.

So I found some aiptasia in my tank. just one or 2 heads right now but I will need to get it under control. ill get some aiptasia x tomorrow. After a few months in, I totally understand why people use dry rock in their tanks. I love all of the little things ive found which are good but the stress about what the next bad thing will be is crazy.

On a plus note, my ATO arrived today. I need to get another piece of plastic to extend the float holder because the one that came with it is to short.

Hey everyone. This is a pretty large update since its been a while.

Last weekend there was a frag swap at That Fish Place. I was able to pick up some interesting pieces.

    Birds nest for 20$

Green Slimer Acro for 2$. sorry for the bad pic

    1005142137.jpg

I believe this is a Green Millepora that I got for 5$
    1005141851a.jpg

I also got a Ricordia that I don't have a picture of right now.

My Utter Chaos Zoas have gone from 1 pylop at the begining of september to 3.
    1005141849b.jpg

The Gorilla nipples are growing like crazy as well
    1005141847c.jpg

    And here is my Tubbs
    1005141847e.jpg

I did some tank maintenance today which was much needed.

    -13 Gallon water change
-Made 5 Gallons of RO/DI for my ATO reservoir
-Cleaned the glass (every other day)
-Removed one of my Zoa colonies and physically removed a small Aiptasia from the sand with a siphon.

I am having an issue with Aiptasia. right now there are only 2 or 3 that I can find but I know its going to get out of hand. The ones that I can see are behind my rock work and its going to be a major process to remove them. I bought some Peppermint shrimp to try to combat the issue but so far i'm not sure that they are doing much. have been in hiding under some rocks for a few days. They do come out at night though.

Another issue that I am having is something is eating my zoa polyps. Only 3 of them so far but I am not sure what it is. I haven't seen any nudis or worms so I am pretty sure that's not it. I removed the colony and dipped them with coralRX as a precaution so hopefully that will help. The pic below doesnt show much but you can see that one of the red ones is gone now Ill update with a better pic that shows the green ones.

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
    Sweet deals. Really nice zoanthids.

I believe your Green Millepora is actually a Green Pocillopora.
