So a while back for some reason I lost my Male African Lyretail Anthias. And just the female is running around the tank, Id say about a month now. My Question is, Will the female Anthias become male, being the only Anthias in the aquarium, or will she Idle as female because of the lack of another Anthias?

Opinion. With my luck lately with fish attempts I needless to say have been hesitant on buying another fish. But I see Liveaquaria Has the Male in stock. I would like to have my Pair back persay... But I just dunno!

Opinions on the New Male and The Question if you know the answer would be much appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.

The female may not change since there are no other females in the tank. I would go for the male if you want a pair.

If you get a male... do it fairly quickly. I had a single for a while and it only took a couple months before it started to change.

Thats the thing, Honestly I only like the males coloration out of that set I had. The one I have is a devil, crazy swimmer, eatting amazingly. If its gonna switch over in a few months or year I can wait. But If its never gonna switch I want to replace the male.

This is a hard call. If she is starting to change, though it's not obvious to you, there will be massive fighting if you introduce a male to the tank. If you add another female to have them work it out and one become male, there will also be a lot of fighting. One may end up dead. Lyretails are fairly aggressive.

That said, my female anthias turned male in a few weeks, but there are also two other females in the tank. I don't know if she would have turned if she was the only female in there.

Really tough call. Don't know what to tell you.

My female flame wrasse turned male since she was solo in the tank, so maybe it's the same for anthias? I dunno.

    ^ Agree here, I'd wait.

Sidenote - the female flame transitioned since you have the other wrasse in the tank.
