I went ahead and dosed late last night and this morning is the first day i didn't have to clean my glass of thick film algea,i added it to a fresh batch of wc water and then added to the tank.So there is definatly a noticable difference,my water also looks clearer,no difference on the rocks,i figure it's too early to tell.I plan on doing frequent wc's with this treatment to keep the water cleaner due to dying algea along with as much manual removal as i can.I'm also running fresh carbon and gfo in 2 of the filter stages to help. But so far my fish and cuc are looking fine, and my few corals was all wide open today and looking good.I'll continue to update as i continue treatment and let you all know how it goes.

I use it all the time on my FOWLR tank....works wonderful in my opinion! When I first started out in the hobby, I only had my reef tank and I used it in there, no problems with the exception of one big thing......I forgot I had cheato in my fuge.....key word I HAD!

No problem there(on the cheato)It's a nano cube and i don't have a fuge(yet)so no cheato. But i do have a fast vineing macro of some type that sprouts runners everywhere,i can't get to it all,and it grows FAST!I'm really hoping this is one of the algeas that the algeafix will kill.

That's weird I use it and it has never hurt my cheato.

Depends on the system. If you have a small system and over dose it might affect the cheato different than from a larger system. Possibly. Different strokes for different folks.

I used it once for some type of clear/slime/algae I was having a problem with.
I only dosed twice ... and it did solve my problem, but it killed my cheato as well.
My plate coral also looked unhappy for a few days, I actually thought I might loose it ... that is why I did not continue the treatment.

I now run GFO & GAC in 2-TLF reactors and that has really helped control my hair algae ... still have a little (VERY little), but it is not growing/spreading and the little I have can be removed with a toothbrush.

So, bottom line ... I will reserve my use of AlgaeFix for emergencies and with caution ... keeping a close eye on my tank and stopping treatment if things start to look if'y.

I totally agree as with any chemical to fix things should be used as a last resort also lots of research to fix the problem that caused it so you don't have to use it again.:)

Normally i would completly agree,i don't like to use any chems unless required, but this tank is a fairly new setup and as in my opening posting i stated that i'm just looking to get it under control until i can work on the resolution,so this is just kind of a test, and i definatly want my algea and params square before i add any nicer more expensive corals.
