for a FOWLR set up. I'm stuck on ordering 2 12000k(white)/445 (blue) or 1 12000k/445 and 1 8000k. I 'hear' what it's supposed to look like, but would really like 3Reefers opinions!

When you say supposed to look like, you mean the color the lights will make with the different combinations of bulbs right?

Since it is 12k/445, it sounds like more of a blueish bulb. The 8k is a bit more white then other daylight bulbs that are at 6,500k. I have one over a freshwater tank and its nice to the eyes, but definitely still more yellow than white.

I know when I was messing around with two bulb combos on my tank, I tried two ATI Blue+ bulbs and it was just too blue. I liked it at first, but it didn't grow on me. The Aquablue special, which is supposed to be a 14k bulb and Blue+ combo was too much white for my liking. I ended up going with a Blue+ bulb and Purple+. I'm sure you would probably like the 12k look over the 8k, but I have no idea how two 12k/445 bulbs would end up looking like.

Since it is a FOWLR, you can choose any combo that looks best to you. As far as the bulbs, what brand bulbs were you getting? I've only had experience with ATI bulbs, so I know how their combos work. But I'm sure someone out there has used the bulbs you're getting.

I'm getting Ecoxotic's stunner strips. One of the persons i'd spoken with several weeks ago suggested one 12k/blue and 8k. I was just wondering if should go two 12k/blues instead. Although I am already ordering a full blue for dawn/dusk effect. To clarify, I just want the colors on the fish to be bright and essentially all colors to be enhanced. :)

Ohh, LEDs. I've been looking at those stunner strips, seem so awesome. Been thinking about adding one for shimmer and added color.

I think the 12k/445 and the 12k/Magenta would make for some awesome colors. But since it's a FOWLR, no idea if fish will show a difference like corals would.
