I don't know about petco's salt brand but, I like reef crystals.

i would stick to a reliable salt like instant ocean. dr foster and smith is a good site and petco has it also for just a few bucks more.

who has actual experience with this salt? I'd be interested in hearing about that, or some factual information about their salt.

You know, this is a tough question/subject. I say that because from my many hours on this and other forums I visit, I read of tried and true salt mixes such as Reef Crystals, Instant Ocean (the one I use) and others that have had bad batches and caused problems. I guess my advice is to make up a batch of the Petco salt and bring it to .025 SG and then test it for Cal, Mag, Phosphate and Nitrate to see what you are getting. Any salt mix can come up with a bad batch. Also, see if you can find out who is the maker of the salt (company) and who distributes it.

We use it and like it just fine. We have never tested it for anything when mixing it but we have never had any problems with it. Keep in mind that we do very few water changes so I'm not sure how it would do in a tank that gets a lot of water changes.
