I had a similar setup and used a reeflo tarpon. It's been an awesome return pump. I also t'd off the return to drive my ev120 and for a couple of fluidized bed filters for gfo and gac. My ev120 did much better with 700 gph.

Some pumps use less power the more head oressure. Those are nice for oversizing the pump. You can valve down the output as needed but still use the flow for other stuff down the road.

I always used 10X the dt size for flow through a sump and less for fuges.

My sps like having 2 vortechs I'm my 90. Everytime I think i'm adding too much flow they prove me wrong.

And just to be clear.... a EV-120 says use a Mag 5, or overdive it with a Mag 7. So 500 gph or 700 gph since there is no head loss. But when I asked how much water was being processed by my Mag 7 on my 120 when I talked to AquaC... they said probably 300-350 gph actual water movement. The spray injector is a big restricted.

picked up the 40gal long tonight. very dirty cichlid tank he had, but it'll do well for a sump/fuge once i clean the heck out of it. putting in 20:1 water/bleach solution into it now to break down everything and kill any bacterials.

weird dimensions... anyways output from a calculator more like a 45gal tank...

    You provided measurements in inches:
    Width: 48" (121.92cm)
    Height: 17" (43.18cm)
    Depth: 12.75" (32.39cm)
Your tank's volume is approximately 10404 cubic inches or 45.04 U.S. gallons, which is approximately 175.2 liters.

should i have the fuge and the sump get water straight from the display tank or should the water to the fuge come from the return pump?

While some do feed their fuge with the return pump, it's best to just get raw water from the display tank. If for no other reason than to not recirc pods through the return pump possibly multiple times before they get to the display tank. Other than that, any water in the return is going to be "clean" water. Raw water is better to feed the fuge.

I used 1/4" acrylic for all my bafffles and they are held in place with GE Silicone I for Doors and Windows. Been working well for over 6 years now.

I split my overflow so a 1/2" pipe goes to the refugium and the remaining 1" goes to the sump.
