Title sums it up. This is for my future 210g setup with 100g sump. Wondering which would be better for heavier bio load. Thanks for the help.

Niether. The ASMs are overrated and the Octo would be hell with the two Sicce pumps figuring out if both are turning correctly.

For the same money get the SRO 5000. Better single pump setup with no directional start issues. You can get a copne version too if you want in the XP.

the reason I asked about these 2 models is that they are available to me used locally for both under $200. I had read about the sicce pump being a problem though but I figured my skimmer wouldnt be turned off all that often. I was looking at the sro 5000 also if I go new instead of used. Just trying to justify the extra $.. Any thoughts on the nwb-250 by reef octopus? It says rated to 350g but it doesnt say if thats a light bio load rating.

I have two asm's. One g1x and one g2. Never had any problems with them. The g1x has been running now for one year with no issues. Great skimmer.

I see. If you want to go used... get the 250... much better skimmer. Two sicce pumps will be about maxed out on a 300g sytem. Just my opinion. Some will use a PSK-2500 up to 200 but I would not. The Sicce are good pumps. But when they turn backwards they loose about 20% output. So... you would have to sart one and see if it is right... unplug and plug back in till it is... then go to the next one. You would have to get used to the sound it makes in the air line of a proper run. There is a difference. I got used to mine and did not find it to be a big deal... but I would not do it again with what is out there. It can be a pain and two only makes it worse.

I don't know about th pump on the 250, but at 1800 l/hr it is right in the ball park of what it claims... that would be heavy. Octos always go by heavy... it's the only number you need.

The Bubble blaster pumps on the SRO series are good solid pumps with good features. The 5000 would be all you need if you go new. The features are going to be better. The extra money would be worth it to me... but that does not mean much to you. ASMs are just a waste of money IMO with what is available today. The used 250, the NWB 250, or the 5000 would all get the job done for you.
