I am currently pondering fish choices for my 90 gallon fowlr while it cycles. I want to do a predatory tank and I have a list of fish I like. I wanted to know which of these fish will work together or if all will and which should be added first and last. I just need general opinion or more fish suggestions. I'm not putting all in or most at once. I am just throwing around options. Fish list follows:

    Purple tang
    Niger trigger
    Picasso trigger
    Emperor angel or similar
    Foxface lo
    Blue spotted puffer
    Porcupine puffer

    Ideas?

that is a lot of bioload for a 90g. most of these fish will get pretty large. you will most likely run into algae problems and territorial issues. if i were you i wouldnt keep triggers with angels or tangs, and the puffers will nip at most everything.

I'll echo the thought that this is a very heavy bioload for a 90g and as large as some of these species get the tank will be crowded.

My thoughts on the fish you've chosen:

    - I love puffers, but they get extra big. I wouldn't get two because of this. Porcupines are probably my favorite fish of all.
    - I love Niger Triggers - one of the "friendlier" triggers - I don't agree with the previous poster that they are very aggressive, but I do agree with him that they should be added last.
    - Picassos are cool, but very aggressive. Put one trigger in, leave this one out.
    - Not a fan of Fox Faces, they can sting and tend to hide anyway
    - Love big angels, but they get... well... big.

    Consider:

    - Put one puffer in (Porc)
    - The Purple Tang is awesome and, again, one of my favorites
    - Put in one trigger and not the Picasso. Instead of the Niger, consider a Blue Face. I love mine!
    - Instead of a full sized angel, consider a dwarf like a flame.
    - Put in another medium sized Tang like a Flame Fin or one of the Acanthurus genus (Lt Tang, Orange Shoulder, etc.)
    - Put in a couple smaller fish like wrasses

I agreed with most of this post.

Be careful with the Acanthurus. I have a lavender tang (acanthurus nigrofuscus) in my 90. Lavender's are some of the smallest of the Acanthurus. He's small and still covers my tank in no time. He will likely require a bigger tank as he grows. The larger Acanthurus tangs would be even worse, as they are very active.

I just wanted to let you all know that i didn't intend to add ALL of the fish on my list. Those were just the ones that i have searched online and liked the looks of. I am going to go slow and add two to start but i wanted to make sure that SOME of my favorites were atleast compatible before i started this type of aquarium environment (aggressive). I appreciate all of your inputs and i thank you for your advice. I am new to the saltwater so any help is great. I dont really like the looks of the wrasses though. Is there any other types of fish i should look into that would go well with these fish. I just would like to see my choices. I am afraid of having incompatibility problems so i prefer to hear from those people more seasoned to the hobby than the fish store clerks because they are out to sell the fish and will not always be honest. I have learned this with my freshwater setups in the past!
