    Scenerio:
I was really itchy from the last time I was on and I have been trying to upgrade my T12 VHOs to T5s. I have IceCap ballasts 660 and 430. I also run 2 metal halides with individual ballasts. I had it all on a 150g with a 55g sump (bio balls, live sand and 2 berlin bags). I have not been able to bring myself to get a GOOD skimmer. I have a prizm HOB but I only use it when I use the Carbon (very very rare). I have had this same water in my tank (- evaporation) for around 15 years. I'm totally not knockin anyone's way on how they maintain there tank but I've had flawless specs since day 1. I know this may be accompanied to all the live rock and sand with very few fish but to the point >>> I don't want to make this the move that kills my stuff.

    Problem:
With all that above in mind, I have down graded to a 55g while I was drilling my 150 for drains and the bottom blew out. All that light on my SPS is very very cool but with Zoas, leathers and other softies... I dont want to make it where its too much.

    Problem 2:
I HATE the 55g! Its too thin. I love nanos and I have alot of SPS but I believe it'll quickly overtake a nano if I went smaller.

    Problem 3:
As mentioned above, I wanted to swap to T5's but the swap with ends, stands, bulbs and reflectors was $200. My buddy gave me a brand new 36" 4 bulb set-up from his old tank with new bulbs in trade for some frags. I WAS going to disect that housing and use those end caps for my 48" T5s but I have a 20long that I use for frags with a Metal Halide. Yes, I have 2 frag tanks and 2 reef (one soft and one hard). I want to reduce spending so I was thinking...

Should I use that 20g long and leave the 36" hood alone or does anyone have any nice pictures of a 55g with Zoa's and Acro?
I was thinking of finally giving up on maintaining all the tanks and trying to do one nice one with what I've got.

So, 2-55g tanks, 1-20L, 1-10, I can keep my bio and 2 berlin bag set-up, 1-660 Ice, 1-430 Ice, 2-250MH Ice and my new T5 hood. (Well, you can add a 150g with the bottom out if you want.)

Can you think of any good combo?
    Disect the T5 for 48"?

I don't think I'll ever be happy till I break down and buy that half round I've wanted with a chiller and a good protein skimmer so I can pack it all in one nice tank.

Yeah it was kinda blurted out.
I have soft corals in one 55g with the other 55g keeping the hard corals (Bio balls, 2 berlin bags and live sand as the sump) with both the 10g and the 20 long frags running off the sump.
The T-12s are on my 55g soft tank,
The Metal Halides are on frags and 55g hard coral tank (BUT the lights keeping the hard coral tank was my back up ballasts) so I'm screwed if one ballast goes on any other tank.
The 36" 4 bulb T5 isn't on anything because I was going to rob the ends out of it to convert my T12s to T5s.

I breed Clowns so I am using alot of electric between all these set-ups. I want to get rid of everything but my Zoa's and Sps. Its just alot of stuff and I want to have one nice set-up... Not 2 tanks and frag stuff every where. It looks like a mess. I'm just not happy now with everything and dont want to scrap it all and start from scratch.
