I am not satisfied with my current setup and am going to reorganize my circulation scheme. Getting rid of the powerheads, overflow box and distribution bar at the bottom of the tank.

Building a 'Covey overflow' with the horizontal skimmer pipe hugging the underside of the center brace in my tank. Should I put the returns in the center of the tank blowing toward each end? (that should create two circles from center to end, back to center pickup. Or from each end toward the center?

I will also be replacing the two powerheads I currently use with a closed loop single pump behind the rockwork. Where should I pick water up from and what methods do you think would be best for return? The closed loop will be primarily concerned with lower tank circulation - to the end of getting started with some corals.

I wil put up some diagrams later, as this is just some rambling at work.

    Thanks all

    Mike

I prefer a corner overflow and a return pump located in the sump. The return supply is split into four HOB adjustible spray heads. A "T" right out of the return form the pump and then two more "Ts" for the four spray heads.
