Packing more lights in a tight hood is no problem with Reef Brite's new LED flex strips. The LED flex strips make DIY jobs pretty easy. If you have a little slither of space left in your aquarium hood but do not have moon lights, you can simply cut the Reef Brite LED flex strip to size, remove the 3m tape backing and place in your hood and you are good to go. It is really not much harder than that. You can actually trim these light strips down by cutting between sections and the rest of the LEDs still work. More below.

Each section is about 2" long and contains 3 LEDs. There will be several colors available including a 470nm blue. The strips will come in 12", 24", 48" and 72". 48" = 6 watts.

These are obviously not for growing, but they will provide nice accent lighting. The ability to cut to size is very interesting. Although they will work with raw cuts, I was told that you should add a dab of silicone on the end to be safe.

    Oh, and they are waterproof!

Are you sure that each 2 feet only has 3 leds? Looks like a lot more than 3 in the photo.

I said 2". :) (for a section - cluster of LEDs - different than strip length which has many sections of LEDs)

I was thinking of using these for me bracing, right now the braces cause shadows so my thought was to stick two of these under each brace since they are waterproof.

I'd rather blame it on the general confusion as of late on this forum on the difference between ' and ".

It funny I have used this for about a year know. They do work great. I have a set of blue mounted inside my tek unit. You can pick them up at autozone but they will need a little mod for house hold electric.

For the moon light effect on my 40g just 2 blue led's does the job spaced acordingly. A little electrical tape works great to cover the extra bulbs.

Somthing to keep in mind, they will change the color of your tank if keep on during the day. So you can add some blue to your tank or if your tank has alot of blue from just say lots of ati blue + bulbs get the white LEDs and they will reduse the to blue look.

Btw they do add the shimmer effect if your using t5's
