    It's pricey to breed anything.

I tried one. Was a big bust! She came from ORA very thin and wouldn't eat in the LFS. I took her because my tank is full of pods and figured she was much better off in my tank than at the LFS. But she was just too thin when I got her to save her.

She had absolutely no interest in prepared foods.

You would think captive bred fish would be cheaper, to keep from having to take them from their natural environment and hence preserving them. It's almost a crime IMO. Almost like how American motorcycles are so expensive, ie. HD. Why would I want to spend $20k when I can get the same thing or better for half the cost. Stupid.

I've bred fish. It is WAY more expensive to raise them than it is to collect them. The labour involved is intense. The cost of maintaining brood stock and feeding and raising the babies is HUGE. Not to mention the cost of being successful. There was a lot of money spent of the trials before they are successful.

It costs way more to raise than then the asking price at the LFS. Fish stores often charge 300% their wholesale cost.... Shouldn't breeders get the same payback after all their troubles?

ya it would be cool if there was a system that automated fish breading was efficient enough to cut the prices so low only very few fish from the ocean could be sold for a profit.
I've seen a few of them that eat frozen food, and all of them still had more pods than frozen. As far as I know frozen food in not as nutritious as pods and even if they eat a lot of it all the time it really wont be enough on it's own.
