I lost my Cali Tort to STN. I tried everything but ended loosing all the frags of it. It happens, not to sure why, it could be the GSP, or some viral pathogen. Hence the reason I am looking to set up another tank. I will probably leave the RP as it seems to be pretty hardy and for some reason likes it's current environment.

Oh great link m2434, after work reading for sure. Thanks. :)

5 hours reading the 3 parts of the article, plus the articles linked within the article, plus the ones linked in those articles..... there are still dozens upon dozens more to read. Thanks for the link.... and all the other ones within.
Very time consuming, but awesome reading.

The RP is looking pretty sweet, Cheryl. Do u feed them every day?

Cool, thanks for the info. What do your nitrates usually run at with that type of feeding schedule? Hmmm... not sure, but do u also feed fish in that tank or is the 29 a coral only tank?,
I know... I should know this by now. :(

Nitrates wax and wane at 10 or sometimes a little more and sometimes nearly 0. I tried keeping them at nearly 0, but my corals are just happier with some nutrients.

Only 2 fish, an old YWG and a clownfish. They may get flakes in between but they get a big feeding every 3 days or less.

I have some xenia, kenya tree, bubble algae, chaeto that all seem to work together to take up the extra nutrients IMO.

    28 gallons empty. :)

You have some really good growth. What do you keep you mg, kh, and cal at?

    What do you dose?

This is good to know. I am currently having some higher than normal levels as well. Last reading went up from 10 to 20 ppm. I really do think that my corals also like a bit more nitrate for what I'm seeing. Cyano has also started to show in several spots, so I'm trying to get it back to 10 or 5. I'll buy some rod's food and will let u know how it all goes. I really don't think that nitrates up to 10 or 15 affect coral growth all that much for what I see.

    Thanks,

I dose Kent Part A/B daily with Kent Tech Magnesium.

Right now mg: 1500, alk: 9-10 ca:500. I keep them kind of high because the utilization of them is pretty quick now a days.

It should be noted that I do not see them same growth for all acropora. Millepora and rough textures acropora seem to grow the fastest for me. Tortousa and some smooth skinned grow slowly for me. All LPS grow fast, moderated growth for zoanthids, palys, mushrooms.
