It could that it likes a bit more nitrate. I definitely don't have any detectable nitrates due to the ULNS. 170 is low PAR for an acro though. Most of my fast growers are 300+, but I though I had heard that the RP liked a little lower. I kind of want to keep it where it is, but I may try pointing a PAR30 at it to boost the light a bit.

It will be interesting to see how it does under the PAR30 LED, I believe Jerry has his RP under a LED and it looked great. All the other pieces of RP I have seen under LED have been frags so hard to tell.

I would say the RP is less light demanding for sure. Maybe I am wrong, but it has been aquacultured for so many generations it has adapted better to water conditions and lighting of aquariums better than most other acropora.

    :)

..and I was just reading this. My RP did very well under a Rapid LED PAR 38 (7 diode). Now that it's in the main tank, it's still doing very well under T'5's. I think this one is easy to tell how much light it gets by the color of the base.

Switch back and forth from the May and now picture, and you can see the RP reach for the light. Cool pictures, Cheryl. ;D

Cool. I think I changed my plan though. I have some PAR 30s on the tank and I tried pointing one at that corner, but it's just too deep to get much extra PAR; only about 30-40. And that leaves another area of the tank a bit dim. There are a few other areas that I was not happy with the PAR anyways, so, I've decided to switch from a 250W Phoenix to a 400W Radium (I have a select-a-watt ballast so, it's the flip of a switch), remove the 4x t-5s and replace them with an AI SOL and point an existing PAR30 at the RP. Hopefully that will be sufficient; we'll see how it goes ;D

    Thanks aquariaman.

Yes I do have frag request and I am a little behind. Here is an image I took yesterday but you can not see the whole colony because of the way it's sitting in the holding tank.

The coral has gone through some coloration changes with new lighting changes, but it should go right back to bright red in a few weeks.
