    I think they usually just end there. The tip will round off and not grow any further from what I've seen.

    I have seen them just kind of pancake out at the tips. I think if I remove the tip it will probably table out again from the tip if I cut it about 1 inch off. That seems to be what other branches of done that did not reach the surface.

    I've always wondered about this. What happens during water changes when there are corals so close to the water level? Or in your case, AT the water level, lol.

    When I do a water change a lot of my sps are out of water. For a while, they just slime a little after wards. I have seen large colonies in the wild out of the water during low tides.

    There are actually some hobbyist that exclusively keep sps and lower the water level daily to simulate natural tides.
