I would imagine a portion of the argonite dissolved into the water to cover the need.

I had not thought of that, hmmm.

Well tonight the alk dropped to 8.7 even after an am dosing.

Live and learn, I really did not consider that the addition of more sand and the subsequent white out would put my parameters so out of line.

Another lovely side effect was my new Millepora browned somewhat.

Oh how I love tank maintenance.

Is it a possibility the corals are playing catchup?

I was stupid and forgot to turn my dosing pump for Calcium back on for 3-4 days. It was sitting at 300-320 last night before I did a water change.

Hopefully soon I'll have that Red Planet Frag, I'd really like to race ya. :)

Did you pre-rinse and stuff Ceyrl? I just dumped 10 pounds into a 12g and it didn't get murky at all.

No I did not pre-rinse it, was 1 cup or a tad more. Lesson learned, finer aragonite I could have probably rinsed until the cows came home.

Now that I have some idea of growth rate, even with all the highs lows and bumps I will stick with monthly updates.

Ca:400, Alk: 9, Mag 1400. Ca went up and alk went down, these numbers work better.

No, Nick (Norg) has my frag along with others. Schedules keep changing and our visits keep getting pushed back. I hope to have it by the end of this month.

Very stunning corals Corailline. I would love to see a FTS of your tank. The colors are amazing. I am way too intimidated to try SPS.

As Chris would put it "that report button is around here somewhere".

Where is your RP Alex? :p

    Got you covered Chris. ;)
Thank you Norg, from a hardcore sps keeper that means a lot.

My FTS in on my build thread:

    http://www.3reef.com/forums/show-of...j-change-camera-settings-iso-down-140493.html

You would be fine trying some Pocillopora or Montipora or even some BN.

Corals are in way easier than fish, IMO.

Go for it and if you experience problems just try again.
