So I'm three days into my cycle. My rocks are starting to die off it seems (the really purple ones are going grey in spots, and the water itself is looking a wee bit hazy..

The picture of the full tank front was on the first day, the zoom of the rock with the worm was just now. You can see the difference in color from then till now..

Do I worry about this guy?

Do I worry about the die-off? From what I've read it's supposed to all die off and start again...right?

10 gallon tank, 15lbs live sand, 14lbs live rock, 8 gallons live water.

    Thanks!

Sounds like you're right on track. Have you tested for Ammonia yet?

Yup a Fire Worm, personally I would not be concerned but watch you hands when working in the tank. The worm may very well make it through the cycle.

And just so you know you can use a tiny amount of vinegar on the out side of the glass to remove the salt slime, it will cut right through it.

You're awesome! Thanks so much for all the help so far! I wanted to tell you about this website I found, remember I had asked you for where to see corals and such? Check this out CoralPedia.com! :: The definitive repository for named Corals!

Hehehe, I'll wipe it down now.. My sister said that my coralline algae was probably dying because of the lack of calcium. Isn't it too soon? I just took that cheapo 90gph powerhead out, replaced it with a 500gph circulation pump - I like how the water is moving a lot more now. I thought the die-off might have been because of the lack of oxygen..

I'm going to my sisters in a bit she has a test kit, i'll check soon and post back the results.

Is there a forum where I can post my progress and stuff? I hate cluttering the forums randomly :D

Yeah Coralpedia is great for sure especially for those zonathid and palys addicts.

The Coralline is probably dying off secondary to the elevated ammonia and nitrite levels and the changes in lighting, it is to be expected. I imagine in a newly set up tank you still have enough Ca to do the job. Coralline algae is a mysterious thing, you either have it growing absolutely everywhere or no where at all. You either love or you hate it. Regardless it will grow back eventually, but it may not even be the type of Coralline you started with. Keeping the big three in line Ca/Alk/Magnesium helps significantly.

You should start your own build thread under the Show off your tank forum, you can edit the title as needed. To do so you simply go to Edit as the bottom of your post, from there choose Go Advanced and that will allow you to change the title as needed.

Thanks for the nice words. :)
