I just got a fan spong that was a piggy back from a friends tank. I have never homed one of these guys. Any tips would be great, currently it is healthy and about three inches tall. I have placed it in the sand at the bottom of my tank and away from other "corals". It has not been exposed to air but is looking to me to be a bit pale. It's in a extremely high flow area, med/high light, closest item is a field of Zoa's about four inches away.

Never had any luck keeping a sponge but from what I've read they like good flow but not overly strong as it could cause tissue damage. They do not need light to maintain color and too much light can be bad as it can cause algae growth.

If its anything like my encrusting sponges, moderate random flow and low light and they don't mind the occasional feeding if your water quality can keep up.
