Hello everyone, I doubt this is the best place for this, but here goes anyway. We started our first saltwater tank a little over a month ago, I think, today while observing things, I noticed one of the live rocks we purchased has some very small orange glowing dots amid the purple coralline algae. I don't have an image, but anyone have any idea what it might be?

It could be orange coralline algae fluorescing (Glowing) from your lights.

Some of the dots are under the shadow of other rocks. I guess the light could be reflecting back just enough for flouresing. Is orange coralline common? I haven't seen it mentioned in the colors I've read about so far.

Well, I have a camera, but I have yet to figure out how to get a close up that looks worth anything while trying to focus through the glass. I guess a search for camera settings will be my next search.

do you have a manual focus, or macro setting? the macro setting would appear as a flower this is for close ups

I tried several settings, the blue lights might be a problem. Gonna try a few more with the blue off.

Orange isn't as common as the purple. But the fact that some is not in the light is puzzling. What does it look like with just the daylights no antic?

Just tried taking the pics with no blue, no dice there, I will have to work on my photography skills. Without the blues on, there are no glowing dots, so it must be fluorescing. The dots are so small I can't even tell they are there without the actinic lights on.
